From another upload I've learned that this wasn't considered a part of the actual opera, but was instead intended as a call to attention for the audience, to let them know that the show was about to start. Which makes it no less great, of course.

@ashwayne It is a relief "Orpheus and Eurydice" of the sculptor Arno Breker and is found in the Arno Breker Museum in Germany near Köln

the author of the painting is Károly Ferenczy and the paintings name is "Orpheus" from the year 1894
