With the News, I don't really think its so much that you need to protect your kids from the news, as I am a firm believer in preparing kids for all the shit they're going to inevitably deal with later in life, but with modern News, the thing is, today's News channels, ALL of them, distort, edit, and outright change or lie on the news they report.

I'm not against letting kids see what goes on in the world, as long as they're actually seeing what's happening. That's not what today's News is.

Second, he's the world's most prolific symbol of Capitalism, and I guarantee holds by far the record for most appearances in Commercials. This is rather ironic since his whole bit is giving stuff away for free [I.E. Socialism, at least according to Fox].

Technically, Santa is real, just not the all-powerful magic version we tell our kids about. The real Santa Claus has been dead for more than a thousand years. Amusingly, the real version of his story was that he threw some gold nuggets into the windows of two teenaged girls so they wouldn't have to become hookers. No kidding...
