I would like to rig up an old android phone I have as a tracking and anti-car-theft device and I figured this app looks like a great start. Anyone know of an app that behaves like a car alarm? For instance, the app should be extremely battery efficient, have the ability to notify you when your car is disturbed, and have GPS tracking. Perhaps I'll write my own app if one doesn't exist. Thanks. :)

Some of those items you mentioned are mutually exclusive... For instance, 'extremely battery efficient' does not go well with 'GPS tracking'. As far as 'notify you when your car is disturbed', that'd require bump-sensing, which would only notify you if the car was jarred... Can't think of any other way to notify you. At any rate, an actual after-market alarm system would be more efficient, and cheaper in the long-run, since it would not require a cellphone plan to notify you, etcetera.

I got it synced with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. It works great, so you shouldn't have any problem.

Just Google for Torque for Android and see what it can show you. It can provide loads of data for logging purposes (if you tune your car) or just show your car's fault codes or show MPG etc etc.
