nice old school buses! :)

We had several where i lived

I rode on a stick shift bus before when I was in elementary school. The clutch on it caught fire in front of my house.

I havent ridden a Ford Amtran but I rode a Ford Ward built in 86. Along with GM Ward in the early 80s. And I did ride 3 International Amtrans and I rode one IC CE regarding the Ward/Amtran/International.

@ns9987 I never rode a stick shift school bus either. Everything I rode was Automatics. I dont remember if the Loadstar Carpenters were Automatic but I think they were. But everything else was automatic. I have seen a few years ago a church in my county has stick shift school buses. I dont know if they still do or not.

You are too easily amazed. I couldn't help but laugh at your reaction. I used to drive old buses like this all the time. hydraulic brakes, Wayne body (ours were 1979 S1700 with 345 gas). Yeah, the 1700 is probably a 5 speed non-auto synchronized trans mission. Which just means you have to double clutch or float the gears.
-
also the Thomas Ford is probably a 370-4V gasser
-
You should see if they'll trade that Wayne for your IH
-
I can tell you right now, the shorty originally came from here in Kentucky. Even so, that's an extremely rare combo.

That shift pattern is: R12345
Whats the big deal? I rode one to school everyday for like 5 years
