Harvesting wheat in Montana with 3 John Deere combines. A couple of additional items since some have asked. The 1st machine has Shelbourne stripper header on it (28ft), notice the amount of material that is NOT coming off the straw chopper since only the heads are being "stripped". Also left some pretty good vertical stubble in such a dry year. The second machine has a 42 ft. Honeybee header on it - excellent header for a lot of the dryland crop to utilize the capacity of the machine. It was a demo unit when the 42 fters first came out, it amazes me at how well it has held up for nearly 10 years - its a heavy unit, too. Third machine is a 9610 with a 30 foot header. The stripper header primarily was/is used to harvest peas, worked quite well for that purpose, does get used on wheat from time to time. If you want to see some large scale harvest with very late model John Deere equipment check out this site from an outfit in Northeastern Montana, quite the custom harvest operation. http://www.rungreen.dk/ I want to say this video is from 2004, I have been a little lax on getting a video at harvest in recent years, as it gets a little busy, but maybe I will put together a slide show of photos from recent years.
NEVER IMAGINED that one???!!!
