The UMKC-affiliated KC STEM Alliance's purpose is to 1) Create a shared services model for STEM programs, such as Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and FIRST, coordinating data collection and program evaluation, as well as facilitating school and industry partnerships; 2) Support a solid foundation of STEM education for all students, regardless of race, gender or economic status; 3) Increase the quality, quantity and diversity of job-ready candidates for local STEM employers; and 4) Advance economic development and progress in our community. The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is providing a $3.2 million grant over the next five years to create the KC STEM Alliance.
