The studio simulation broadcast live by CBS on July 20, 1969.
Various animations were used to illustrate the descent and a full size replica of the Eagle was used to depict the start of the EVA, including Neil Armstrongs exit from the hatch and the deployment of the Modular Equipment Stowage Assembly (MESA) folded against Eagle's side to activate the TV camera.

At 2:38 the transmission cuts to the Live transmission from the surface of the moon.

  • "cbs must have rehearsed that well- lol!"

I suspect that they did, since they had an idea that this would be the most watched TV event in history.

Plus CBS had clear audio cues from the actual NASA broadcast.

  • Yes theyn also managed to show a frame of the view of the side of the lem as seen by the b+w camera which wasn't opened yet.

It also matches the photos taken from the same place. Nobody even knew exactly how deep the regolith was and cbs managed to get actor-nots to time their descents with the actual live broadcasting on top of the brief colour view of the moon which was impossible.

    Remarkable!

Obviously, you believe that Man never set foot on the moon. But are you saying that CBS was a co-conspirator in this?

  • I have very good reason to supspect that this is the actual footage that was sent to tv's round the world because they liked doing silly hoax clue things like this because they were abusive little power nazi's.

The reason why the cbs Armstrongs suit is blank is because the tv pictures were put through a process called image transform and it confirms what I suspect I am seeing with other apollo media vis the space suits

  • Well I guess that the broadcast of the CBS studio footage could be one of the reasons why the "It was shot in a film studio" theories started, as millions of people DID view actors in space suit costumes, filmed in a studio.

I guess that they just neglected to read the

captions stating "CBS NEWS SIMULATION" that were at the bottom of the screen.

  • One of the reasons people are shouting "fake!" is that they are delusional. Another reason could be, that they hate authority. And another reason could be they are just plain stupid.

  • Most people read the word "simulation" I guess. And most people believe reputable scientists, astronomers, engineers and exerts that say the moonlandings were reality.

Just a few believe some anonymous dropouts making videos about a moonhoax conspiracy.

  • Furthermore, this footage was solely used on the CBS network. ABC and NBC had there own and very different sims telecast at the very same time. Had those crying foul bothered to check the full telecast, they would have noticed CBS anchors telling the audience clearly that the sim materials were sims and the location of the facility the were being crossed to. The timeline was made public well beforehand with scheduled times clearly on display.

  • For those not up to speed on this clip, it is taken from the Apollo 11 coverage made July 20, 1969. The alleged color moon footage looks _nothing_ like the actual photos or video taken on the missions. A big giveaway to anyone who did minimal research would be the mountain terrain on the CBS sim, the fact the clip in question is nowhere near the angle of the MESA mounted camera and can zoom in and out.

  • You are very welcome. Much to the chagrin of our resident hoax folk, I'll plug the book "Live TV From the Moon" which details the trail from start to finish of the lunar TV development.

  • @Dstevenb Thank ya kindly sir. Interesting indeed.

  • The received the unprocessed sequential color video feed, noise reduced it, and sent it to Houston where it was converted to color via the disk-recorder frame buffering system (based on a device built by Ampex called the HS-100). This was verfied via news reports in the day, which can be accessed via the Vanderbilt News TV Archive.

  • @frankensteinmoneymac Image Transform was a startup company by John Lowry which pioneered digital noise reduction. They applied DNR parameters to noisy images reducing the noise ratio by about 9dB and secured a contract from NASA after a sucessful demo on Apollo 15 footage given to Jim McDivitt. The facility was located in downtown Hollywood and wassmall office shopfront.

  • @greenmagoos And what is the "unofficial" story behind it? Feel free to answer as a message to my account, if you'd rather do that than post it here.

  • @frankensteinmoneymac

Image transform were a company set up by a John Lowry to stabilise the colour tv pictures received back from Apollo 15,16 and 17. Thats what the official story is anyway.

  • @greenmagoos What do you mean by "image transform"? I've never heard that term before.

  • Actually the news simulation looks much better than the actually NASA footage.
