This is a project for a photography class I'm in. The assignment was to use some sort of text (song lyrics, poem, story, etc.) and turn it into a few photos. I chose the song "Happy Birthday" by the Birthday Party to work with.
Unfortunately my dog Harper Lee Duthler (the wonderful dog chair) passed away less than 24 hours of the first shoot. For a few of the photos near the end I mixed old ones of Harper with ones I'd taken during the second shoot to make it appear as though we were dancing and laying together.
Special thanks to my neighbors for supplying me with the red bike!
Note: I used the timer to take the photos I was in. All photos (minus band member profiles at the beginning) were taken by me and are property of Mike Duthler. They may not be used in any was without given permission from me.

I do not own any part of this music or claim it as my own (aside from the legal purchase I made of this song). If you are interested in getting this song for yourself, please do so legally to support both the musicians and record labels who created it.
Lyrics:
"It's a very happy day.
We are at lots of fun, fun, fun.
And it's ice-cream and jelly,
and a punch in the belly.
How much can you throw over the walls?
And see how his face glows.
It's a bike! What a surprise!
It's a big bike! What a big surprise!
It's a red bike! What a red surprise!
Oh, what a surprise.
But the best thing there
(but the best thing there)
was the wonderful dog chair
(was the beautiful dog chair)
that could count right up to ten
(it could count right up to ten).
It went woof, woof, woof, woof, woof,
woof, woof, woof, woof, woof!
And it's another happy day.
He was born eleven years ago.
And this year it's long trousers
and a very smart tie.
Just think in five years he'll be shaving.
And see how his face glows.
It's an ninja sword! What a surprise!
It's a samurai sword! What a metal surprise!
He'll remember this day for the rest of his life.
But the best thing there
(but the best thing there)
is that sensuous dog chair
(the immaculate dog chair)
that could count right up to eleven
(it could count right up to eleven).
It went woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof, woof,
woof, woof, woof!
But the best thing there
(but the best thing there)
was my darling the dog chair
(the rampaging dog chair)
that could count right up to eleven
(it could count right up to eleven).
And it went 'round and 'round the house...
I remember when I got my first dog chair. Such a surprise!

Great song to choose! I watched htis just to see how you would represent the dog chair, ahha. I sort of picture some bizarre chair dog hybrid. A chair with fur and the face of a dog on the back of it, its tongue hanging out and panting and woofing.
