@bradleyzero yup yup it's a synth bass. theres a vst on pretty loops called sytrus. on the bass part i think they have one that sound similar to this.

@bradleyzero I'm pretty sure it's synth-bass. Not played on a bass as such but using the lower keys of a synthesiser/keyboard with added modulation. I'm sure you could achieve the same sound on an actual bass with enough effects. Hope this is some help.

Not sure. Doesn't say on the record, nor anywhere on the web. My guess is '82 or '83; I'd be surprised if it wasn't, but I've been wondering myself.
