A sign, as ordinarily understood, is simply something that suggests the presence or existence of something else, a perceptible indication of something not immediately apparent. What's so difficult about that? Why should that require the development of a whole new perspective on reality and experience, as so-called "semiotics", as the study of the way signs works, claims? This video, a dialogue between a semiotician and a proponent of "realist" philosophy, addresses directly the question of what is the difference semiotics makes for our understanding of what is a sign. • These guys are obviously the life of every party

  • This video signifies that those who study semiotics are elitist snobs.

  • the "general manual of semiotics" by Jean Marie Klinkenberg is much more accessible than this conversation in my opionion. i recomend it to anyone intrested in semiotic studies

  • Yes, I agree with some of the others, I third person could have even been read off stage for more effect. I've seen 1-4, But The clock is signifying it's time to sleep. it's late Im going to bed, I'll finish tomorrow.

This is Well Written and The Actors did a Great job!

  • DONT READ THIS Cause It Really Works. YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE. HOWEVER IF YOU DONT POST THIS COMMENT TO AT LEAST 3 VIDEOS YOU WILL DIE WITHIN 2 DAYS. NOW UV STARTED READIN DIS DUNT STOP THIS IS SO SCARY. SEND THIS OVER TO 5 VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN UR DONE PRESS F6 AND UR CRUSHES NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. THIS IS SO SCARY Cuz IT ACTUALLY WORKS THIS reaLLY WORKS

  • It's an interesting attempt to popularize semiotics. So far it's not bad, though a bit phoney. The narrator could be a third person, then maybe the conversation would sound more natural.

  • This is by far the most informed presentation of semiotics. It will go a long way towards defending against the encroaching influence of mediocracy in the minds of many. All five of the videos should be watched. The fifth is certainly the one to see for those with attention deficit disorder. I will certainly reference this skit and refer it to those who want a rather complete introduction to semiosis.

  • Thank, this is great. Really helpful.

  • yep. should attract a huge audience for this. this isnt boring
