IronStein are a folk metal band from New Zealand. The lyrics to "Hammer heart" are based on Psalm 88, the Robert Burns poem "Prayer Under The Pressure Of Violent Anguish" by the Scottish poet Robert Burns, and Frodo Baggins' quest in "The Lord of the Rings".
Here is a live version of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wre8I2NvXSk&feature=channel_video_title
Lyrics:
I am a man without strength
And set apart to be with the dead
I've been in the lowest pit
I've been in the darkest depths
Hammer heart
When the road is long and the night is dark
Head held high
I'll see it through before I die
Thy creature stands before you
Distressed and close to death
So free our weary eyes from tears
Or hold them fast in death
But if I must be afflicted
To suit some wise design
Then man my soul with firm resolve
To bear and not repine
On the dark side of twilight
When wings do fold and eyelids fight
When the air begins to chill
When soft light melts the distant hills
Hammer heart
When enemies stay and friends depart
Head held high
And my love for them will never die
Thy creature stands before you
Distressed and close to death
So free our weary eyes from tears
Or hold them fast in death
But if I must be afflicted
To suit some wise design
Then man my soul with firm resolve
To bear and not repine
@Hyronious By the way, our bass player uploaded some of our live stuff if you want to check it out, although by the time we got to Hammer Heart I'd almost my voice, and couldn't quite hit the high notes hahaha: youtube.com/user/Ironsteinnz/videos
