The secret of the distortion channel lies in the blend and gain controls: favour a lower gain setting and blend your clean signal heavily. Might not sound amazing on its own but it sounds great in a band mix. Together with the powerful EQ and clean DI, this is my number one, could not live without tool which I take with me whenever I play Bass.

Great for turning a passive bass into an active one and scooping the shit out of it.

Note: if your bass has bad fret buzz, DO NOT GET THIS. the way the pedal boosts the highs with the colour will make it sound pretty bad. The distortion is too hairy, if you have the ability to biamp and just turn off the tweeter, or run a low pass filter (a stable one, not an envelope follower) after it then it sounds good.

My band, Downfall of Darkness opened for Threat Level last night at the Rockhouse cafe in Indy, and Jason Weaver, Threat Levels bass player was kind enough to show me this pedal he used in his live sound. It was freakin killer sounding. I'm getting one very soon.
