My brother, John, was bit by a copperhead snake. He almost died and stayed almost a week in the hospital.

Was it due to incompetent medical staff?

    Anaphylactic shock, from antivenin?

    Auto accident?

    Secondary infection caused by bacteria?

Because I'd bet a million dollars he most certainly did not "almost die" from copperhead venom, allergic reaction...possibly, but you have more of a chance of dying by being sodomized by a T-Rex than from a copperhead bite.

  • Too bad copperheads are not deadly, huh. Its the guys fault for stepping by it, not the snakes, you should not have killed it.

  • wow

  • almost die? if he was in the hospital less than a week it would not be almost die

  • Fewer than 2 percent of all copperhead bites are potentially life-threatening. The actual fatality rate from copperhead bites is estimated to be about one death per 2500 bites, and even then that is because of an allergy to the venom. A dogbite could be as serious as a copperhead bite (and even fatal under unusual cirxunstances).

  • Props for whacking off it's head.

  • thats the point where you just stomp the hell outa it..

  • @littlebrowndog66 The reason that my "Bite" was not as serious as most is that the snake did not get a good solid bite. It was more of a scratch. It drew blood but did not get to inject any, if any venom into myself. There were not two fang marks that most bites display. The scratches healed like a normal scratch would.

  • @KennethMixson This didn't prompt you to then consult a COMPETENT doctor? If you recovered easily, you're extremely lucky. Though copperhead bites are so rarely lethal to healthy adults that antivenin is not even used in most such cases, supportive medical care is highly recommended. It is secondary problems, like allergic reactions and systemic infections, which can be fatal. Untreated local tissue damage can be so bad as to cause loss of use of a limb. Best case scenario: only severe pain.

  • u r stupid all the poor thig did was protect itself the only way it knew how plus ive been bitten by a copper head never went to the hospital and i had a little rest and was fine a healthy person literaly cant die from a copper head unless they are alergic to them p.s more people die from snake anti venom than from snake bites

  • Hate snakes, love to the guy who killed the little bastard...:)

  • Is this the North American Copperhead?

    I assume so.
