This report is insulting and patronizing. This is westernization and capitalist marketing.Men get this operation too, but the reporter has these preconceived notions that China is still backwards and incurably sexist- even bringing up foot binding. Chinese women are still very strong. What about plastic surgery and anorexia in the West? I could say that poor Western women are still victims of deeply sexist western culture-that they are still stuck in their "corsets". Wouldn't that be insulting?

@astmapiippu Sorry this is not the truth. I am Chinese and this is preposterous. It's like saying American women get boob jobs because they are slaves to sexist American men and will do whatever men tell them to. Just Google Chinese women billionaires and senior executives and you'd be surprised. Very little is known in the West about how strong Chinese women are. Yes it's bad for women in the rural areas because of poverty and lack of education, but not so in the urban areas.

@GogolBordelloLover so pretty much the doctor was saying that the chinese girls' avg height are around 160-165cm. the ones that are 160 and below it is harder for them to find jobs ( in china, physical discrimination is normal). Therefore, they are looking for ways to grow taller, have bigger eyes, be skinnier, whiter skin tone, bigger boobs, and straighter teeth before they go out to the job market looking for jobs....
