From "La Cenerentola" by Rossini, an opera that's at least as good as the well known "Barbiere di Siviglia"(if not better).This one is not a stage production, it's a film directed by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle, and it's really a good one. It is the best "Cenerentola" I have seen until now. The part I've selected shows the moment when Cinderella and prince Ramiro meet the first time. Cinderella is Frederica von Stade, and the prince's part is played by Francisco Araiza. Both very young and charming. The recording is from 1981. Enjoy. If you like it, buy it.

@julia59 Ponnelle is awesome! His Barbiere and Nozze di Figaro are also delightful productions with great singers. Flicka plays Cherubino (the page) in the Ponelle version of Nozze di Figaro.

I agree for the beginning. But I prefer the Barbiere ! La Cenerentola is somehow doing too much. The Barbiere is funny but natural.
