John R. Stockwell is a former CIA officer who became a critic of United States government policies after serving in the Agency for thirteen years serving seven tours of duty. http://secretsofthecia.blogspot.com/2010/01/what-is-it-like-to-work-for-cia.html After managing U.S. involvement in the Angolan Civil War as Chief of the Angola Task Force during its 1975 covert operations, he resigned and wrote In Search of Enemies, a book which remains the only detailed, insider's account of a major CIA "covert action."

Born in Angleton, Texas, his Presbyterian father moved the family to the Belgian Congo so that he could provide engineering assistance. Stockwell attended school in Lubondai before studying in the Plan II Honors program at The University of Texas.

As a Marine, Stockwell was a CIA paramilitary intelligence case officer in three wars: the Congo Crisis, the Vietnam War, and the Angolan War of Independence. His military rank is Major. Beginning his career in 1964, Stockwell spent six years in Africa, Chief of Base in the Katanga during the Bob Denard invasion in 1968 before being transferred to Vietnam to oversee intelligence operations in the Tay Ninh province and was awarded the CIA Medal of Merit for keeping his post open until the last days of the fall of Saigon in 1975.

In December 1976 he resigned from the CIA, citing deep concerns for the methods and results of CIA paramilitary operations in third world countries. He testified before Congress and appeared on the popular American television program 60 Minutes, claiming that CIA Director William Colby and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger had systematically lied to Congress about the CIA's operations. Two years later, he wrote the exposé In Search of Enemies, about that experience and its broader implications. He claimed that the CIA was counterproductive to national security, and that its "secret wars" provided no benefit for the United States. The CIA, he stated, had singled out the MPLA to be an enemy in Angola despite the fact that the MPLA wanted relations with the United States and had not committed a single act of aggression against the United States.

  • @2xtream And with the passage of the (NDAA signed our beloved O'Dumbass) most Americans don't know that all our Constitution was Tossed out the window... Yup the Government can now arrest you and throw away the keys WITHOUT any charges and hold you Forever if they so choose and you never have a day in court... All in the name of safety... ROFL.... and you think I don't know what's happening and I should be quiet in fear of them? I'm not one to sit back and watch. It's time to fight back

  • @phrox But I'll go one step further. Most the people in the thread do not know that the CIA was formed to protect America by gathering info on foreign enemy's and their ( CHARTER ) Prevents them from doing anything here within the HOME LAND OF AMERICA.... So as I pointed out in my first comment, The CIA is a rogue organization acting outside of the LAW!! that may friend is what a Rogue Origination is... They are no longer respecting the LAW! This is all public info but many do not know it

  • @2xtream I never said I am affiliated with anyone nor did I make any remarks to oppress your freedom's, I merely stated a suggestion that may be in your favor. A little FYI, I'm not a kid, and I have served my country so that you may continue to have the freedom's for which you speak out. So... your welcome. kid.

  • @phrox oh so you work for the CIA and wish to remove my right to free speech. You go play with your little buddies and attempt to destroy America. Only one thing to remember, back during the Nuremberg trials many were put to death claiming they were only doing what they were told to do. Wake up kid. your on the wrong side of this battle.Oliver North didn't get off Scott free. It's simple, if your hide your actions your not doing the will of the ppl. Like shipping Guns for Mexico's Cartel

  • @2xtream You may want to give it a little more thought before you publicly speak out your own opinions.

  • @rsmcgranahan

Maybe that's why he dissappeared after the 80s???

  • I think need to have more Radio and T.V. talk show about those topics, Those things are exist and people need to be more aware of what going-on out there There is a lot of people that don't even know that those things even exist!

  • Real CIA wont go home and tell the wife and kids how his day was, real CIA knows true powers can only be brought down from the inside (not on camera). Real CIA is playing the role applied to the mission thus having no opinion towards assets, even if said asset wants to cut up people for his own pleasure

  • Is he wearing x-ray glasses?

  • Regarding what John Stockwell is saying at timing 8:10, why don't they deprive a CIA officer of all medical care and money for a few months, and then do a fitness report on him? The govt has done that to me, so why not to them?
