Was you keeping the revs up? Sounded like you where changing quite early. I think all the power is high up the rev range on that engine.

well that was when i had only just started driving..hav recently found out i can go a LOT faster in each gear... e.g. takin 2nd gear up to 55/60 and 3rd up to 80mph..so i can deffo do betta :D

Is that a standard exhaust?? ive 1 and thats what it sounded like a few seconds before the back box fell off.lol. not as slow as you would think for a 1.1i, better than a pussy boy french saxo or 106!!!

i can get 40mph in 2nd gear and i've had 90mph before i gave the engine a rest lol. not a slow car, pretty nippy actually.

I used to own the 1.1 L MPI (multi point injection) SE (special edition) and that only managed 95mph tops any more miles per hour and the engine would be at the bottom of the road. It'd managed 15mph in 1st, 30mph in 2nd, 52 in 3rd gear, 65 in 4th tops and 95mph 5th and no more.

The Gti version is alot faster I tell you that now..running 0-60 in 8.6 seconds..standard

I have got the rover 100 ascot with the 1.1i, so probably the same as this, could you tell me what speed you change gear at when flooring it on a straight road for best acceleration.

thats sluggish u shud change gears later i got 60 in 2nd gear n hit 95 in 4th in my 1.1s
