You'd be surprised how easy it was to get this giant rock monster into the game! The editor to make the modular animations took only a couple of hours to write (though it is kinda crap at the moment), and everything, including frame interpolation, worked from the first try! I keep on patting myself on the back:)

  • I Am very impressed with how far you have gotten in this..

At first i was already interested in your early design willing to give your game a try but from what i see you have gone beyond our expectations and none of us really know what to expect from you.

It's been awhile sense you have updated us on your game 2008 lol.

And it's 2010 now i would like to see what you have changed and done to make this better.

The art is really what draws me into this game.

  • Even though I haven't uploaded new videos in a while, I have continued working on the game. I feel that by showing off my progress too often I make somehow make it less special, and give people the wrong impression that the game is closer to done than it really is. LOI is an ambitious project. It would've taken a medium-sized developer about 6 months to finish, but since it's just a single person with a wife, a child, and two full-time jobs - it's taking a while: )

  • omg i tried myself on writing an modular animation extension for my game.. but it didn't turn out thaat nice yet ^^"

  • @CalinedMusic: Thank you! This, however was the first try. My current modular system is a lot more advanced than this, though I had to write an editor for it and crap: ) There are still issues with the load times at the moment, but I suspect those happened because of the plain text format I'm saving data as. Once I switch to binary (I'm saving as plain text in order to be able to manually correct any errors that may occur because due to problems with my editor) it should load a lot faster.

  • To be honest, I never much cared for modular animation. Mostly due to the fact that spriters who implement this sort of thing usually don't bother to add any actual animation to the creature's individual parts. However, when used properly, it can look very nice (for example, that giant spider-thing in the Secret of Mana series.) Overall, this game is very eye-catching so far.

  • Ohh, you will like my modular animations then - I am animating the individual modules in a lot of instances. This golem was my very first attempt, and is therefore pretty crude.

  • after 2 weeks of searching for game engines i havent seen a game as promising as this on any of them. u sir are talented and u have inspired me to contnue tring byself aswell

  • Hmm?

Might i ask what engine or maker are you using?

it seems amazing and i would like to make something like it.

  • Really?...

Well i just hope you don't give it up two years from now or whatever i will still be anticipating your work.

Games like this are usually the best anyways.

But yeah... september 22end 2008 i think your alright to upload something. xD

We all know you have been working decently hard on it.

  • Also did you write the music yourself?
