Annette Fisher, Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce president, talks about the new marketing theme, the Hammock Coast. This theme was adopted last month for the county and next month the public is invited for a Hammock Coast roll-out of this new identity at 5:30 p.m., May 13, at Tara Theater, Litchfield Beach, Pawleys Island, SC. Fisher said she felt this will give the whole community an opportunity to see the program. Residents and businesses will see how we can label our community as a place people want to go, she said. Statistics from the Rawle Murdy marketing communications firm of Charleston were announced at the Georgetown County Tourism Management Commission (TMC) meeting Thursday, April 8.
The number of online visitors to the countys Web site www.visitgeorgetowncountysc.com doubled from February to March.
There were 32,333 visits compared to 9,807 in February.
The number of visits in March 2010 was twice as high any other month on record. The fastest growing segment on Facebook are women over the age of 45 and they make up 33 percent of the total Facebook users, according to Rawle Murdy. Ohio jumped into first place as the Buckeye States residents did more clicking in March on internet websites to find out about Georgetown County tourism destinations, than did residents from previous leaders, South Carolina and North Carolina. Attending the monthly session were Commission Chair Helen Benso and members Matt Giltmier, Barbara Ruble, David McMillan and Sassy Henry, along TMC Director Sally Hogan. Most of the session involved planning for a public roll-out of the new branding theme for Georgetown County, the Hammock Coast.
This event will be at 5:30 p.m., May 13, following the May meeting of TMC at Tara Theater in Litchfield. Rawle Murdy representatives also explained plans for social marketing of Georgetown County and the Hammock Coast on Facebook, Twitter and other sites. By Lloyd Mackall
