While I think it would be great to home school, many parents do not have the time or education to do their child the service. The other issue is regardless of whether you home school or not, in this area we still must pay our school taxes kids or no kids, so starving the beast in many areas will not happen. I teach my kids to critically think and know BS and Propaganda when they see it. They also call their teachers out when something sounds off. My son had to educate the class on US is Republic

@vlr1230 - Thanks Vanessa! I will check it out. Education is an on-going event in my mind. My son is grown now, but the information you provide is so important for those with school age children. We've had some very bad experiences with the public school system. My son was bullied, had his personal property taken from him by force and nothing was done about it. We were so frustrated! Doug

It turned out that it was not the TSA that inspected kids at that prom in NM--just the local security at the prom.

Good vid. I never did figure out where in the constitution the fed gov had a right to promote an agenda for the entire country. Maybe I missed something...
Vanessa, Absolutely awesome video! But most states require that parents become accredited. How do you get around this? I went back to school to get my degree a few years back. One girl in my class was home schooled. She was brilliant! She was the top student in the class... and she was so much better adjusted than the public schooled students.

@NAGGERNUTZ Thank you! My son has gotten quite good at making videos in my humble opinion (we got him movie making software for his birthday and he sure put it to use:). As for being accredited, I think you may have gotten some misinformation. As far as I know, in all 50 states, parents can legally homeschool their own children without a teaching accreditation. If you have someone else teach for you, that's when you run into that. Some states have much more relaxed laws than others.

@NAGGERNUTZ If you visit the HSLDA website (homeschool legal defense association) they give a listing of each states' laws concerning homeschooling. Some states require testing, others just attendance records sent in, still others want a detailed record of your every move! But, as I've said, I'm not aware of any state that requires a teaching certificate or even a degree for that matter. If you decide to homeschool and need or want to talk, please feel free to email me, Vanessa.

@NAGGERNUTZ Ooops, I hadn't yet read your message that said your child was grown:) The offer still stands though!

It's a powerful video, but I do wish the makers had spent more time on the positive aspects of homeschooling. Gardening, guitar, guns -- folks, there's a lot more to it than that! Homeschoolers can tailor the education to the child, and because it is so much more efficient than mass schooling there is plenty of time for a child to pursue their passions and enjoy their lives. Children have a right to a happy life at all ages - not just after age 18!
