3 heats and a 45-lap Feature with 12 gas flathead racing go-karts were in store for today's festivities. The first 10-Lap Heat was won by Gary Miller, who was followed by Buddy Cottom, Chris Stevens, and Kevin Galletta. The second heat was a rookie/refresher heat race, which saw the returning Eddie Scruton beat out first-time rookie racers Brandon Matott and Ron Rowe. The third 10-Lap Heat went to Russell Hockey, followed by Tim Galletta. Third was a tie between Matt Stevens and his wife Melissa and 5th was Brian Galletta.
As the video shows, there was a lot of excitement and bumper-to-bumper racing, with Tim Galletta and Russ Hockey wrecking together while leading, then Gary Miller and Buddy Cottom also wrecking while leading. Inheriting the lead was Matt Stevens, who added a 5th feature victory this season to his impossible-to-match credentials that has other local karters envious and fearful to the point of hatred and mockery in the past. Though many have shiny, high-priced methanol-feuled karting machines, they just don't have the experience and patience to win a greuling ironman karting show at Galletta's.Matt trims his brother's points lead in the standings and is feeling confident heading into Klassic.
September 13th, 2009 45-Lap Feature Finish:

Chris Stevens still leads the points standings over his brother (and 7-straight championship-winning) Matt, with Buddy, Russ, Melissa, and Gary following. But with the 14th-Annual 200-Lap Galletta's Championship Karting Klassic of Oswego Karting approaching, places can change drastically just by that event alone. Thanks! We built the track for our primary race track for years and traveled for races at a local organized racetrack too, but since said track booted our class, we now race basically just in our backyard alone.
