Sow suckling 10 7-week-old piglets, tractor engine noise muffles my stealthy approach as when she sees me she gets up of course - she thinks breakfast has arrived, which it has! This is Gillhouse Excelsa, Berkshire breed champion at Bath & West 2010. Video is April 2011.

  • Many thanks! They are 53 days old, I wean at about 62 days for a precise 6 monthly cycle once a suitable date has been reached for each sow. This is just over 8 weeks which is best for these traditional unmodernised breeds, weaning at commercial dates (4 weeks) just isn't attainable.
