On December 4th, 2005 (Saint Barbara's Day) my handsome Lieutenant Colonel and I got married at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel.

The bride and groom now happily reside in Mississippi.

The service was presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Ken Beale (Army Corps of Chaplains) and we were blessed to have the Arch of Swords perfectly executed by the ROTC Cadets from the University of Minnesota.

The wedding was formal with a blending of Canadian and United States Army traditions.

  • This year, sadly, I had to celebrate our third anniversary alone...John is overseas working to help a foreign government to re-establish itself and I couldn't be more proud!

I count the day I married this man as one of the best in my life and I miss him so much. It's not often in life you're given second chances and I'm embracing mine with all the strength I have...

I'm proud of you John for the job you're doing to help another nation and I love you for the life we have together...GO Army!

  • Thank you so much! The first song is "The Rowan Tree" which is a traditional celtic wedding song and was the one playing when I walked down the aisle.

The second song is "Scotland The Brave" the traditional marching song for the Canadian Armed Forces of which I was a member. We used Scotland The Brave as our recessional and it still gives me chills!

  • @KASivaro thank you for your service and i also want to thank your husband for his (I'm hoping eventually to get into the canadian armed forces myself) i feel that sodliers and those that serve their country deserve everything we can give them " it is because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf that we are able to sleep soundly at night"

thank you both again from the bottom of my heart, may God bless and keep you safe as you serve your nations.

  • @iamcondescending you are going to love your time in the CAF, I know I did! Thank you so much for your wonderful wishes and prayers my husband still has 2 more months left in Afghanistan (he's been there since September 2008) then he will be home for good!!!

I wish you the best of luck in your career and may you have as many wonderful years and memories as I did.
