@psommorr that's when your counters come in handy, If you can predict your opponent then counter whats coming at you. The more advanced method is slow recovery where you repeatedly tap punch and kick buttons to get your character to come to, then you can get back on the defensive quicker. Slow recoveries are useful when your opponent cancels in their strings alot but you will never be able to slow escape out of many basic strings. but slow recover is safer when you can't predict throws.

people who bitch over throws suck theirs a way to get around throws....... anticipation
1.if your stunned dont counter to quickly they cant grab you wile your stunned only when you come out of it
2.don't risk yourself with punishable moves
3.if your talking about counter hold of offensive holds anticipate those by ducking, remaining stunned, or using a regular throw because those beat out counter holds
Overall there is a way around every thing so dont blame your opponents or call people cheap
