A Response to "Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus"

Now I don't have a soundtrack or production values to show
But I do have common sense and an old mac book pro
you love Jesus and hate religion, that's odd
Because religion is just man's response to God

Sometimes it's fake and the righteous really called it quits
But you and I agree Christians shouldn't be hypocrites
Your video was made for good, but now it's become fodder
Because you threw out the baby with the baptismal water

I agree God doesn't withhold love because of divorce
But is breaking a marriage sin, Jesus says of course!
You say you love Jesus and trust that he rose from the dead
But you might want to listen to what he actually said

Fortunately, it doesn't take an exhaustive search
Jesus said you are peter, and on this rock I build my church
Now don't say it's different, just because it's Greek
Jesus spoke Aramaic, so think before you speak

You're a bible buster and a scripture sleuth
But tell me, what is the pillar and foundation of truth?


Why does religion breed hatred hypocrisy and war?
Because we're infected with sin, though God evens the score
But people without religion, the ones who only had bibles
They knew how to reload, and shoot others with rifles

You say religion causes violence and doesn't feed the poor
But who runs your local food bank, and what belief system has killed more?
And can we feed people by selling Churches like that big one in Pisa?
We could, but do you want to visit a Sistine chapel sponsored by visa?

You say religion makes us slaves, and that's not nice
But in Romans 1:1, Paul's a slave of Christ
You think hierarchy is awful, like something from Mordor
But in Greek all it means is, "built on a sacred order"

The sacraments of the church are no man-made invention
I know john 20/23, is the reason I go to confession
You despise good works, think it's something to hate
But god's grace and man's freedom, were meant to cooperate

Yes! Salvation is a gift we don't earn like pay
But a gift received in faith, can later be thrown away
So when I've sinned and fallen, stuck in a lurch
I say thank you God, for Christ's one Catholic Church

Look my church isn't perfect, sometimes I wonder why
But when it comes to being perfect, neither am I
If Jesus came to my church would we let him in?
He's already there, his body and blood free me from sin

You're right going to church isn't enough
You need God's grace, it's the only right stuff
But as an interpreter of scripture are you reliable?
Where did you get this idea that all we need is a Bible?

Now I'm glad you're helping people meet the risen Christ
And such a good thing may even be worth the price
Of your attempt to make religion look like some form of cancer
But what if it's true that Jesus built a church and one religion is the answer?

Now if you hate this video your screeds might be vitriolic
That's fine, cause I'm in a Church that's one holy catholic and apostolic
But if you like it, don't give the praise to me
what matters most is A M D G

In every negative response to the original video I have seen, those responding use Matthew 5:17. By doing this, they show that they have no understanding of Scripture. You must look at the whole thought.If you just read on to Matthew 5:18, it says (paraphrased) "not one part of the law will pass away UNTIL ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED". All was accomplished at the moment Jesus died on the cross.In this verse, Jesus is alluding to His death. By dying, He fulfilled the law, and the Grace flowed in.

Jesus is no longer on earth but in his holy temple why have an image of him here now?

@RockyBalboa211 Yes God came down as man but he was God and Man at the same time! You cannot put that in any image. Jesus gave us the Lords Supper to remind us of his sacrifice he did not describe his own image why? Because his image was of no importance he looked as any other man. The reason it is an idolatry is because it is teaching Christs sacrifice a way that God does not want it to be taught. He gave us his Word not images of Christ to learn about him or his sacrifice.
