  • I know what he means when he calls his axe a trusted friend. I have used an old world war 2 machete for over 25 years and it has never failed to do the task it was put to. Btw I have used many types of gun oils but do not know of any that dry. Anybody know whatt ype Ray used?

  • @nlightened2 I have inserted an annotation on top left corner. That's Napier Gun Oil.

    Cheers,

  • You can also use sunflower oil to protect both the handle and the blade. One more thing - all the bushcraft guys here in youtube use very expensive axes (mainly because of the advertisment purpose), but a cheap one does the same job at 10 to 50 times lower price.

  • He's only showing HIS preference. After all, it's HIS program. The word CHEAP and EXPENSIVE depends on who you are. I personally don't think Granfors Bruks Axes are EXPENSIVE at all and I never think McDonalds' hamburgers are CHEAP at all. I would never want to spend a penny for that crap burgers but maybe not you? If you want to show others YOUR preference, YouTube should be a great place to start and you already have a great channel yourself!

  • looking after your ex. with an axe

  • @staphinfection to quote the doctor, "bananas are good"

  • Its a gransors bruks axe,

  • is it a wetterlings axe? if so, witch one?

  • I could really use one of those sheaths

  • @RitchiePowell Small forest axe or fold able saw for my bush craft kit what do you think?.

  • @kaziklu79 I had a cheap hatchet. It was difficult to sharpen and would no really do the job. I bought a GB Hunters Axe. I've had it for about a year now. I am still learning how to use an axe, but I must say, the extra money I spend was money well spend. I guess Wetterlings would be just as good and much cheaper. But as long as I live I will never buy a 10$ axe, I'll rather have a quality tool that will last and pay 30$ or 50$(just my personal opinion)

  • апсолютно не нужным делом занимается человек руку быстрее натерёт

  • where did he get the axe

  • The more I watch Ray Mears, the more I really dig his style. It's precise, to the point, and really clear.

Also, if you don't have polish, you can use banana peels on your sheath if it's made of leather. Kind of a ghetto solution, but it works for me, and bananas taste good.
