The north africa team performing a medley of sudanese songs in the MBC hit show Album Arab Stars.

My 2 cents:
I am not sure why did they choose to include some of Mohamed Munir's songs, is it because he consistently and blatantly steals sudanese music without any regards to copyrights or intellectual property, or because Munir's nubian style songs is the closest thing they could find to the "black guy" often stereotyped in egyptian movies as "Abdo the doorman"?
Sudanese music, which is mainly based on a pentatonic scale, is closely related to the music of the horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia). Heck, it is even closer to Korean and Chinese music than it is to arabic music.
I'll not go into the identity crisis and the self-hatred displayed by many of my sudanese brethren, but the sad truth is that the hoobla about this show and the sudanese singer (Khaled) is just mere desperation and attempt to feel accepted by the other ...

*This clip is posted (I think) @ sudanese dot net.
*The audio is out of sync, this my fault not YT this time. I tried different methods to re-encode the original asf/WMA9.2 to mpeg4/mp3 to no avail.

  • Beautiful dancing, something beautiful to embrace... long live The Country of The Nile Valley :)

  • Iam just wondering why do we always have to fight about where we come from and divide our selves into many tribe and cultures ??? we are all SUDANESE and proud to be ..please stop that SHIT...

  • sudan is an afro-arab country, there are over 6oo tribes in sudan!! yes 600!! there are the african tribes, afro-arab tribes and the few remaining are arab!! im sudanese and proud! regardless wheter my ancestors are arab or african we as sudanese are a unique mix of multi different races! and that pivilaged not shortcomings!

  • people people, why all this confusion? Sudanese people are black by ethnic origin, decended from the Cushites and the Nubians, but they are arab by language, and culture end of story. the same applies to the other north african peoples who are largely berber by ethnic origin, but arab by language and culture. north africans are hybrids of arab and their own ethnic roots. FULL STOP

  • @131celt1

your mother must be rashaidi clan

  • could someone list the songs? appreciate it.

  • Sudanese people are African, It's a fact not an opinion. Yes, we do speak Arabic but we're black. Everyone needs to accept it. I also think the separation of the south was planned by the government so that it would be easier for them to steal the oil and use it not to improve the country but for their own good. If the president stepped down, it would be better for all of us!

  • i am deeply insulated this not even close

  • l love sudan i love all north africa

  • Thanks for the group of north Africa i love Sudanese music ?
