This year at conference, PSBA is launching "Stand Up for Public Education."
This outreach campaign is our opportunity to share the good news of public education -- the successes, the triumphs and the academic gains our students are making. It will require everyone involved with public education to stand together in the face of unwarranted criticism by those individuals and organizations that would prefer public education just go away. PSBA will share statewide successes but it is imperative for you to share your local story.
The main goal of the "Stand Up for Public Education" campaign is to provide board members, superintendents, administrators, teachers, parents and students with the tools they will need to spread the good word.

Great initiative tho; great start, it will take the community and activist to unify all resources to make a comprehensive argument that inclusive of fair funding, cultural specific/Representative curriculums, community governed school districts, community improvement via economic and political empowerment and investments in innovation; that's what i believe will be the blueprint to Education reform; moreover social reform. -@floodthedrummer

Education, beyond all other devices of human origin is the great equalizer of the conditions of men; the balance wheel of the social machinery. It does better than disarm the poor of their hostility towards the rich; it prevents poverty. While this campaign is compelling and I would love to work/assist, It seems to be a bit misleading to say "We're not failing our kids". In Philadelphia we have seen unprecedented budget cuts and extreme lack of leadership. Lets work together to get better.

Thank you for enunciating what has been my perception. I moved from cities in southern states to return to Pennsylvania because of the public schools here. The more recent political chatter is that entities want to tap into the public education financial resources and establish schools that do not appear to have accountability that public schools experience.

As a sitting director, I support loads of what PSBA does, but this video baffles me. It's way too long and, even in the length, it misses SO many points about why PUBLIC education is essential. The only real point was that publics have to educate ALL students, but even that point was left hanging. If we are going to succeed in this campaign, we need to make it crystal clear, in a brief format, why our system of education works best for PA and America when it is a PUBLIC system. Good luck!

Sorry, PSBA, but no, I will not participate to what you want via your e-mail. Our economy is in bad shape and the frivolousness needs to be cut. I see a lot of wasteful spending in my school district consistently on things that are not needed. I also seen it while I attended college. There does need to be changes but not the type of changes that you are promoting. You can make cutbacks without education suffering, you people just don't want to give up certain things. The gravy train is ending.
