    Depends entirely on the UV mapping of the model. Bad UV mapping makes for "stretched out textures". This model (Victoria 4 from DAZ) has pretty darn good UV maps so you don't get texture smearing along the sides. The "pelt map" technique they use works well with 3D paint.

    But you want to rotate the head and work on the sides as well from a side facing picture - distortion in your source image has nothing to do with the UV maps. Bad data in, bad data out.

  • im just getting into texturing. you mentioned the model was already uv mapped. so does that mean you will or will not have a stretched out texture on the sides of the head model?
