So let's analyse this: R.Kelly plays, bass guitar, accoustic guitar, semi-acoustic guitar, keyboards, drums, flute, trumpet, cello, violin, saxophone, xylophone...and all I can do is CLAP MY HANDS...it's not fair...:-)

music theory, "cool!" i've never experienced college. the only freshman and sophomore years i had were in h.s. but i think that when learning or studying music in a school setting you typically deal with notes in measures and staminas --- considering youre only studying music. artists lace tracks (or music; beats) in bars. since r. kelly is an artist, a muscian, a composer, etc. his mind is trained to think in terms of music and lyrics.

okay, thanks for explaining. I took music theory my freshman and sophomore years in college, but I don't remember bars. Based on my count, he found his groove around 7:00 (that's supposed to read 7 minutes into the video, not 7 o'clock lol) but my count could be way off.

@badgyrl310 The actual track, or beat, is a series of bars. He was sitting there "vibing to the beat and found a groove". That's saying another beat or an addition to the already recorded bars popped into his head. The pattern of beats repeating themselves is a bar. Every 8 counts, since it's in common time, is another bar.
So if you're bobbing along with the rhythm of the beat, everytime you count to "8" that's a bar, i.e. 1:2-3-4-5-6-7-BAR; 2:2,3,4,5,6,7,BAR; 3:2,3,4,5,6,7,BAR; 4:2,3,4,5...
