Another perspective of the 8mm MG42 German. As you can see, this gun is mounted on a post war MG3 tripod. We are still restoring the original WWII Lafette tripod and will post videos of it in the future. The finish on this particular MG42 still retains the clear phosphate coating that was used just before the end of the war. It looks to be painted silver but it is not. Germany was in such a hurry to field every MG42 they built they would often skip the bluing process. If you also note, the gun generates a high degree of heat and the front booster cone can be seen smoking alot after firing. It was almost impossible to change the barrel with a fresh one without the aid of an asbestos mitten or heavy cloth rag. Enjoy!

  • The tripod is a Rheinmetall MG3 one right? Is it fully compatible with a war-era MG42? Seems surprising... well I guess the germans did not really change much of the MG3... that only goes to show the 42 was very innovative for its time.

  • @nitekilla Yes it is a post-war MG3 tripod. They are almost identical to the WW2 version, the scope optics are the biggest difference.

  • Die Hitlersäge

  • @QUAKE495 Yes it can... trust me

  • @IronHorse2007 It can't beat the Browning 50.Caliber machine gun, though. That thing has been being used since 1919..........And still the best darn machine gun in the military!

  • Pakistan Military still uses it.

  • @smilo996 Today we use the MG3. It is the same gun but the rate of fire was lowered because the barrel of the MG42 was overheating (25 shots per second). Greets from Germany;)

  • hitlers buzz saw i can see why

  • @IronHorse2007 Germans know a thing or two about guns.

  • @shaddowmoses91 What were they suposed to say "its going to chew your ass off" ?
