Another clip of Daniel Day-Lewis in an early role, this time in the 1982 BBC adaptation of acclaimed Irish writer Jennifer Johnston's novel of WWI, 'How Many Miles To Babylon?'. Daniel plays Alexander Moore, a wealthy Anglo-Irishman whose friendship with Jerry Crowe, a working class local, is tested by class differences and the war. In this clip, Alexander resists his mother's demands that he join the army. Mrs. Moore is played by the great Sian Phillips, who would play Daniel's mother once again about 20 years later in Martin Scorsese's film of 'The Age Of Innocence'.

(And on a side note: DDL is positively baby-faced here!)
