I thought since somebody was asking about this topic that I would make a video walkthrough. Please note: Using this to record sounds that you don't own the rights to copy is illegal. So only use this for recording things like Skype calls, or Public Domain/Creative Commons works.

  • wut about recording something playing on mplayer? i guess that would be selecting an output?

  • @rodhoffman Mplayer should be playing out to your soundcard. Just eliminate other noises from your computer other than the MPlayer sounds then follow the tutorial and it should be fine, assuming I understand your question.

Be careful recording something from Mplayer, though. Depending on what it is, that can be a questionable legal situation.

  • What software are you using to record this video?

  • @leodamascus Thank you very much. How calm FPS is perfect in recording, I am always suffering from lack of performance with a well equiped computer. And how do you zoom in and zoom out?

  • @kunguz

I didn't understand your first question, but I'm using the Compiz "Enhanced Zoom Desktop" plugin to zoom in on whatever I particularly want to show.

Mostly by modifying stuff myself. I'm using the Dust metacity theme with a modified version of the Dust emerald theme for window controls, and pairing that with a modified version of the elementary icon theme.

  • hey how did you get your menus and icons to look like that?

  • @OSGUIShow

Huh. Sorry about that, then. I have two computers I've tried this on, and neither one of them had so much as a hiccup, so I didn't know it could mess up audio. How did it get messed up?
