Youtube Ranking System Abuse

UPDATE: 08/24/06 - I guess it's all screwed up again... lame... oh well.. I don't care as much as I used to.. all the spamming, system abuse and lack of response/help has led me away from youtube... anyway... yup... it's a problem again.. oh well...

UPDATE: 04/28/06 - We won! I thought about making another movie.. but screw it... anyone who really cares can read this... That's right.. WE WON... I've been talking to someone from youtube off and on all day. He told me that once he saw my videos he added a couple of my requests to the current development cycle. So... in "less than a few weeks and maybe sooner" a new release of the youtube software will be published that limits every user to one vote per video and doesn't allow videos on Top Rated that have their ratings turned off... My biggest hope was an email that said "yeah we know, we're working on it.".. but instead I had several email exchanges and was told that my videos actually brought some of this to their attention and moved it up on the priority list... A bunch of people told me i was wasting my time... but they were wrong.. I put a little bit of effort into something I believed would make this place better and it paid off... So all you cheaters enjoy your 15 minutes because they're almost up... Especially TheNarutoPianist, darren523, ghosty1, barsandstars220, bigsocce, GaFaMM... you guys suck huge stinky ass. Some amount of thanks to Usocce, BYC, dennisgaughan who all turned their ratings back on "voluntarily" after various amounts of pestering... A huge thanks to all the people who helped pester the cheaters, emailed youtube, or just offered up some support. So... after 26,000+ views, nearly 300 comments (half of which are probably mine), 60 or so private messages... it's over and I can go back to making movies for fun under my real youtube account... I'm turning ratings back on for this video now... thanks!

UPDATE: this morning someone spent hours clicking the 1 star rating over 400 times on this video... Then someone else gave it 1300 5 star ratings... I'm going to turn off the ratings now to make a point... the ratings system is highly flawed and needs to be fixed by youtube. I now have twice as many ratings as I have views on this video... indicative of a problem? I think so...

UPDATE 2: never mind.. I'm going to leave ratings on because I totally don't care what this video is rated... it's getting exposure... people understand the problem... and are leaving angry comments on the cheaters videos... hopefully some of you are letting youtube know how much this exploitation sucks and they'll be working on a fix... so.. go ahead... give me one star.. and thanks for the views... it's not going away.. the dirty cheaters have been exposed and it's only a matter of time now.

why does the "Top Rated" system allow videos that have ratings turned off?

in the top 20 rated videos there only about 3 or 4 people who aren't cheating.

one guy has three videos in the top 20... all cheating...

another kid has 2 videos up there... both are garbage...

what's up with all the attention whores?

Something else I should have mentioned in the video, is that this cheating initially affects the "Top Rated" page... but since that page generates so much traffic... these crappy videos often also end up on the "most viewed" and the "most discussed" pages.. further rewarding the cheater... yuck...

It's been pointed out that the new breed of cheater is using tons of completely informationless comments by 1 or more 0/0/0 users to get them up on the "most discussed" page... man.. the amount of time that must take to do...

I know I'm wasting the whole day being pissed about this, when it's really not that important... but isn't there enough spam shoved down our throughts everyday without polluting youtube even more than it already is? The ratings/views/comments system is there to help the cream rise to the top and the dregs sink to the bottom... if your video isn't good enough to float to the top in this system... it's not good enough for you to waste your time on it by cheating... spend that time trying to make a video that doesn't suck... use the experience of getting bad ratings to better yourself... or just give up... but don't be a scumbag spammer... and a cheater... do you want your mom to know you're a cheater and a spammer? I don't think she would be proud...

I think its a lot of bullshit what a lot of gurus are saying about how to get your video to rank on the first page of youtube. A lot of you are saying to "get a lot of views!", "get a lot of thumbs up ratings!", "get a lot of comments!","get a lot of backlinks!". Well let me tell you that if this theory was true, then there wouldn't be a lot of videos ranking on the first page of youtube.

There are several other videos with less "views", "comments", "ratings", "backlinks", ect, and my fucking video is still ranking lower than their videos. This shit is really starting to piss me off. I'm really starting to believe that the google system is very random! Right about now im feeling like picking this fucking computer up and throwing it right through the mother fucking wall! I've done everthing the gurus have said to do!
