As well as facing institutional discrimination, lesbians in South Africa run the risk of being raped because of their sexuality. The authorities seem reluctant to tackle the growing problem.

"He told me he was going to teach me a lesson and show me that I'm a girl", states Bathini. Like many victims, she was too scared to go to the police after being gang raped. But Mary refused to suffer in silence. Through sheer determination, she tracked down her rapist and passed on his details to the police. When they still hadn't arrested days later, she threatened to go to the press. Other victims have been unable to press charges because doctors wouldn't corroborate their stories. "The doctor's report basically said I just had sex with this man -- that I wasn't raped", states Keba. Activists are now pressing for new legislation to protect all women.

I decided to like girls and find them attractive when I was a child. I just thought about how disgusting homosexuality was and it make my decision way easier.

im not being critical or anything but can anyone explain to me when just say a lesbian couple is getting married why one dresses in a dress and looks all feminine and then the other one is more manly and wears a suite??? i thought well if they are both lesbians shouldnt they both wear white bride dresses to the wedding? anyone know why they do that (again just wondering not being critical)

My heart goes out to these woman who endure so much pain and suffering, not only do they experiance the daily difficulties of life in SA but on top of that also they never have the peace of mind or acceptance for who they truly are. I love u woman.. Stay strong and find love!

this causes a women to be traumatized and lose trust for men

and thus turn gay....[CHOICE]

imagine how many said they havent??

being gay being straight is an influence and a choice u cant be born that way

how do u know what u like as a baby u dont even think about attraction until u go through phases/experience

which help u make the decision about who u like man/woman or both.
