Zodiac Bellydance at The Merce Cunningham Theater in NYC, September 2008. The show takes the human psyche on an archetypal journey through the 12 zodiac signs of astrology. Each dancer allowed a chosen sign to influence and inspire concept development, using theatricality and original choreography to tell their story. Zahra Hashemian and Ayshe explore Virgo (purification) with religious symbolism and imagery and expose the light and dark side that crawls beneath the sign. Virgo, clinging to health, purity, perfectionism, and saintly demeanor, struggling to release the inner critic that binds her aspects and traps her from true freedom and pleasure.
