This is my dear friend Welvin.
The people in his neighborhood did a wonderful thing for him. I went to his house to hang out with him. I brought my little Sony DHS9, and made this film to thank his Friends and Neighbors, and show a slice of Welvin's Life. I do hope you enjoy this BeliRadio Film short.
Peace.

  • Thank you again.

  • @guitardude1230 He would laugh at your discovery of him in this way...truly a one-of-akind man who touched so many...and continues to touch us even after he has gone...!!

  • I work at a thrift store and yesterday I snagged "Poems By Dust" by Welvin. In it is a poem he wrote out to the person he was giving this copy to, his signature, and his business card. He dated it 6-22-85...I got it exactly 25 years after he signed it. All his poems really resonate with me . There is something very special about this book.

  • I'm fairly certain that this is Mr. Stroud, my 4th-grade teacher in 1963-64. He is the person who told me that JFK had died. I remember him standing in the back of the classroom watching a TV the back of which back was turned to the class, as a student teacher led the class. I glanced over and saw Mr. Stroud absorbed by whatever was on the television, and knew that something was wrong.

A fabulous teacher -- the first of several Master Teachers to whom I owe a great deal.
