A large school of Dolphins are roaming in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka. The Dolphin season here seems to be March/April. We saw a school of at least hundred Dolphins but our Safari operator claims a school of at least thousand Dolphins surfacing around early morning. The sight was amazing with Dolphins coming very very close to the boat and of course putting up a nice show for us! You'll see them chasing the boat and performing summersaults in this video! The best operator on the beach is Neel and can be contacted on +94 72 529 5421. He can organize a tour + accommodation with 2-3 days notice. Hotels and food are basic but acceptable and there are few boutique hotels coming up which should dramatically improve the food/accomodation situation. Highly recommended for nature lovers. After the Dolphin safari Neel will take you to perhaps some of the best surviving coral reefs in Sri Lanka for a snorkeling trip. The reef is beautiful with schools of small and medium sized fish. Make sure to get there early to avoid low visibility due to tide changes.
