MHD numerical simulation of supernova remnant shock wave hitting an overdense region of the interstellar medium in which it is travelling.
Spatial distribution of the mass density in logarithmic scale.
The initial magnetic field lines are oriented along the X axis (white lines).
Realized by the researchers at the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics, Osservatorio Astronomico di Palermo.
The software used in this work was in part developed by the DOE-supported ASC / Alliance Center for Astrophysical Thermonuclear Flashes at the University of Chicago.

Simulazione numerica dell'impatto di un'onda d'urto di un resto di supernova con un addensamento del mezzo interstellare in cui si propaga.
Mappa spaziale del logaritmo della densità.
Campo magnetico iniziale orientato lungo l'asse X. Le linee bianche indicano le linee di campo magnetico.
Realizzato dai ricercatori dell'Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Palermo.
