Late 70's/early 80's Was perhaps the best period in Oz music scene with Oils, Angels, ACDC, INXS & Icehouse to name a few. Most of these bands are still around or reforming and the music defined a generation or two! So glad I grew up when it was all happening and saw the best gigs. Icehouse was perhaps underrated in OZ however perhaps bigger o/seas than many others of this time. The 30th anniversary release of Flowers Icehouse is brilliant.

@CONSIDERABLYMORE1 You sure got it right! I have loved Icehouse since they first came on the scene back in the glorious 80's. Just like you said, Iva Davies is a phenomenal talent that has been really overlooked. Some of my favorite songs are ones written by Iva. I just recently got the remastered copies of Measure for Measure and Man of Colours sent to me from Australia. They are awesome and signed by Iva. I love all of his songs but my favorite will always be Crazy.

@ASkywalker1 Spot on. I first discovered this great band supporting David Bowie at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1983. The typically pompous music press dismissed them as Roxy Music rip-offs. Whilst they clearly took influence from that group, Iva davies is an extremely talented songwriter. This is one of the catchiest pop songs of all time, and the first 4 Icehouse albums are classics. "Regular Boys" on "Measure For Measure" is another completely perfect piece of songwriting. I hope he comes to the UK.

Just good as ever.Wow man this kills it.

@KaceKlosed You Don't know what u missed!! when Flowers AKA Icehouse were not playing we would demean ourselves by going to see the likes of "Midnight Oil" or "In Xs" and if we were really desperate :Cold Chisel" and "The Angels" All GREAT Sydney Pub bands,,, Along with a score of others . Ahh those were the great days of the Sydney band scene
-
@CptGoodvibes I can't argue with that. Just not into 'pub music'
-
@KaceKlosed that's true, I just believe that Icehouse were too overshadowed and underrated at the time. Iva to me is the most passionate Aust musician I've ever seen, without getting political. I did like Diesel and Dust and a few of their other songs, don't get me wrong there. I wish I had seen more gigs back then too
-
Wouldn't go that far - Midnight Oil and The Angels were not so pop oriented. I'll accept they weren't your cuppa but I love em all pretty much the same... wish I was born 10 yrs earlier and got to some of the gigs back in the day! Damn

F ucking nailed it.

Fuck bands like INXS, this is by far the best Australian band ever, and to hell with the Oils and Angels too, very overrrated compared to ICEHOUSE.

Thirty years on and still sounds as good as ever. Bring the band over to N.Z. Iva so that we can experience your live performance just one more time. Flowers (Icehouse) you still rock.
