Using a copy of the online version of the Wednesday December 20th San Francisco Chronicle, Three Minutes looks at how the print media can send subtle messages about the "place" of racial groups in society. It's a Three Minutes you should watch and share

  • @polutc No thanks. Not willing to here about your weird sex history.

  • Black people suck....and I can prove it:)

  • And the result:

We sitting at home (both black guys and white guys) come to expect what we see in the news about black people.

We expect all stories about black people to be about crime

We expect any story about stuff from the "Urban zone" to be told to us with a slant...

And told to us by a black reporter.

But GOD help the black reporter that wants to do a NASA story,

    Or a story about bees

    Or how to get on-line

Or has a job where he does what he is told and does it well...

  • The problem is: That if you raise up 3 generations on News reports wherein Blacks are only listed in connection with crime and over comming discrimination, you will have established a pattern of expected behavior

a Black TV reporter is always expected to be the person talking about the Inter-city issues

A black sports star in the news?

Get the black reporter on the story!

A black guy gets beat up in a bar?

Im sure the one local black reporter at our TV station will be assigned

  • I remember...

I remember the Cosby Show and how many people cut it down for not being relevant to the "Black Condition"...

I remember what Harry Belafonte said about Powell because Powell was working within the system

It is very true that you just dont see News articals about black people that just talk about "normal" life.

It's always crime related or discrimination....

    Never about real life,

Never about chageing oil on the car,

or dealing with a septic tank.

  • I have to agree with you..

but plz be so kind and turn your microphone louder so we can hear better

  • Let me guess....zed..ted..fread..jed..You're dense as LEAD must be WHITE!!!!

  • Did you investigate why the media portrays blacks as connected to crime?
