Michelle Obama was in an interview, set to air Sunday night, February 11, 2007 CBS.
Michelle Obama, the candidate's wife, acknowledged it in an interview to air on CBS' "60 Minutes," in which she was asked if she fears for her husband's life as a black candidate.

She replied, "I don't lose sleep over it because the realities are that . . . as a black man . . . Barack can get shot going to the gas station. You can't make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen."

For all those that dont understand what it is to be of a mixed race.... It doesnt matter if you are half white or not, as long as you have that Black side in you and it is visually dominant then you are considered black. This is coming from someone who is mixed. @girnbaldus1 have you ever thought that maybe the people were unable to evacuate due to costs. They probably didn't want to leave behind their possessions. They probably couldn't afford to leave. Those people are not RICH. Most of the neighborhoods were improvised. The white people on the other hand can afford to move. What did they have to lose.NOTHING! so to say that they didn't evacuate because they are STUPID is ignorant.

Who the fuck lives on the coast in a city located 50% BELOW Sea Level that experiences constand huricanes? also, residents in New Orleans were told to evacuate days before the hurricane hit, and why is it that only the minority white population (30%) got the memo and used their heads and evacuated, also Bush did send in the Military and they were shot at while trying to rescue people
