"South Carolina (etc.) is so gay" - wasn't exactly meant to be taken literally. I seriously doubt the morons here in SC understood the double-meaning of "so gay" - how loaded that phrase is for gay people. The intent is to make you read the rest of the ad.
The part about "gay beaches" was ridiculous though! In tourism, a $ is a $ - they have plenty of gay customers already - so no problem. It's in public that it remains an issue.
The state of South Carolina already contracted to pay for the ad. They know exactly what they purchased. Why would a gay group now want to bail them out and use gay dollars to pay the State's debt?
