Of all the songs I wrote for my album JAMESTOWN, these are the most intensely personal lyrics. Originally written with a faster dance beat, the faster version is on the album. However, this version came out with the single release of KISSING A FRAUD. The 'pianopella' is my favorite version. it's dark, it's deep, it's raw and it's personal.

After years of performing behind facades and personas I wanted to peel away everything and just be 100% honest about what I was going through at the time that I wrote it.
I wanted all shtick pushed aside.

The song was almost omitted by the label. But I fought to keep it in.

I paid the pianist Erik James (no relation) myself to make the piano version. I am so grateful to him for bringing his incredible talent to my song. The 22 year old Erik James made up the arrangement within minutes. He's genius!

This vocal was done in only 2 takes.

I have only heard the club mixes of 'Kissing A Fraud' and this version is very 'in the belly'..

Funnily, I have been a fan of Boy George, marilyn, Pete Burns and Divine for many years...until my Niece brought Jimmy to my attention, How could I have missed him? he was even on TV wit Amanda Lepore and Leigh Bowery.... shame on me!!

Thank you Toria for introducing me to James, I have since bought 'JamesTown' I suggest anyone else does too.....what a voice.... & seek out the mixes of this song!

I like the Ballad version of this a lot! On piano is Erik James (no relation). I wanted to write a very dark song to go with what I was going through. It is a true story of a relationship (if you could call it that) that I had. I wanted it to be raw and real. No faking.

The person's NAME who messed me up is mentioned in the song. Can you find the name?

Why is this person not at the top of the charts? He has more talent on a bad day than most so called Pop Stars have on their best day. And wow, the magic in his voice and in his eyes. Wow. This is talent. Genuine talent.

Jimmy proves to all he's still got it, this song is incredible. It's HIM, not an impression of someone, and for him to open up like this is really special. @Satansbutterfly I love club mixes of songs, and DJs can lift the sadest of songs to BPM heights, Boy George write many sad songs which have been made into club anthems...'Kissing A Fraud' is perfect in this version, until this one I'd only heard club mixes, this one is the best!
