Why should there be any lag to begin with? The signal is going around the speed of light. Just for "light" to reach the moon from the Earths surface it takes about 1.5 seconds or so.. And hes just orbiting the Earth. The signal is only delayed in the range of microseconds(Probably around 300-700) or so... There are 1000 microseconds in a single millisecond. And there are 1000 milliseconds in a single second. Plus technology probably helps.

Dear Mr. Hadfield, I would like to send you a warm greeting from Indonesia. Our country never had an astronaut before. I think it's good that your story can inspire every children in the world not only here in my homeland. It's still a long way for our generation to walk on space, but I believe that someone will eventually reach that dream.
