Monsanto is doing what " Al Qaeda " could never do , cause thousands to commit Suicide or drop dead or get sick . Enslave already poor framers to but more seeds instead of saving them as they use to do and force them to buy dangerous Fertilizers .

Monsanto is about the most EVIL corporation on the planet , protected ( promoted ) by corrupt U.S. and Indian Gov.

Monsanto must be closed down! We can take them to a Global Court can't we? People all over the world need to 'unite' against these unconscionable global thugs.

I am simply trying to say that we must look beyond the debate of whether or not GM is harmful to health or not. That's not even the biggest issue here. It's like saying I am afraid of Elephants because they have a trunk! There is more damage Elephants can do than they can with their trunk alone. People are dying not just in India but also in countries like Chad & Mali in West Africa where BT cotton has wreaked havoc. Corporate interference in agriculture MUST stop!

They could use some of their land to grow food crops but no they are forced to. All this while the Americans subsidies for their cotton farmers are around $3.9bn when the total worth of cotton they produce is not even $3bn!! The WTO tells us if you have a problem grow something else. Why can't they tell US to reduce subsidies? If US or EU close their markets it is for security, if India or LDCs do it it's protectionism?? Really? Are they kidding? This is a joke!

If a farmer who uses BT Cotton for example has his land next to a farmer who chooses not to use BT Cotton, by cross pollination, the patented gene from bt cotton gets into the crops of the farmer who doesn't use it and again becomes liable of IP infringement as his crops contain patented gene for which he hasn't paid. Also, why this obsession with artificially inflate production? Farmers are forced to grow cash crops like cotton to satiate the appetite of western countries...continued...

It's not about the GE seeds or Monsanto products per se! Try to see the bigger picture. The largest cotton producing region in the world has its destiny in the hands of ONE CORPORATION! Its about the loss of food sovereignty. The farmer who initially could save the seed from previous year can't do that anymore as that is considered ground for prosecution under the intellectual property infringement laws. They have to spend more on buying new seeds and auxiliary supplies which they can't afford..

I know that any significant percentage of suicides or alleged rise in suicide rates cannot be blamed on GE seed or Monsanto, like I said. That is all I am arguing.

That's only fair. You shouldn't have started an argument about an issue about which you only claim to know a little or only about a part of it. If you don't know the object of your criticism well enough, then better not criticise it until you are better informed. Yes I stand by my view and I also say that that this what and why issue is unlike western development theory is not a one size fits all solution. Its a desperate measure that must be taken in such cases when profits undermine humanity.
