I really, really love this movie. I've seen it more times than I can count.
It's full of wonderful campy 80s sci-fi and Jim Varney.
And it has an electric coffin and a morbid love song opener. Can't get any better, right?
Yes it can.

  • This movie is ahead of its time. Talking about the economy failing back in '86 and it's 2011 and it's just plain eerie because that's what is happening now.

  • This movie seems to be batshit insane even by 1980s standards. Also, LOL at Booby the grease monkey actually talking. He kinda reminds me of Woody Harrelson in this movie.

  • "World Domination Is a Grueling, Thankless Job -- But Someone Has to Do It."

How that failed to get in the American Film Institute's top 100 movie quotes, I'll never understand.

It must be a conspiracy, I tell ya.

  • Out of the many many 80's movies that came out on video, this one's as 80's as it can get!! :)

  • 9:00 Bobby SPEAKS!!!!!!

  • Every time I tell people I like Ernest movies they look at me like I'm an idiot who watches movies for rubes. I love Lawrence of Arabia, 2001, Citizen Kane, M, all the high art movies. But they just don't understand the cult appeal of Earnest. All they can see is a hick movie for idiots. Of course some of the latter movie got stupid, but that's the case w/ any established character. The latter Seller's Pink Panther movies are stupid too. But the early Earnest movies were surreal wonders.

  • this movie = REAL art

  • @ShadowAgentFox No prob!

  • @unclesporkums thanks man

  • @ShadowAgentFox It's called "Our Love Festers", and unfortunately it wasn't released outide of this movie. It's also sung in the movie "Existo".

  • I guess the President got ahold of this movie and built a real gloom beam lol. R.I.P. Jim, wish you were here.

  • I always had a great fondness for this particular movie. It's about the only movie with this guy! Love me some Dr. Otto. "Why Cincinnati of Course! The Financial Capital of Southern Ohio!"
