This shows something of the visit of the Crossbeats (an early CCM band from Liverpool UK) to Birch Run MI in the summer of 1970. The group played at the local High School, although there is no video (cine) of the occasion. Only one photograph (from the local newspaper) was available, so this has been included and padded out with cine footage of the local area, and of some of our hosts who looked after us in 1970 (the Cuthbertsons and others) from Birch Run United Methodist Church. The song in the background is 'Tears' from the Crossbeats LP, which has Tony Mathias lead singer, John Boyes lead guitar, Sam Pennington rhythm, Eric Knowles drums and Eddie Boyes bass and backing vocals. The line-up in the photograph is Tony Mathias, Eddie Boyes, John Boyes, Sam Pennington and Joe Roberts.
Wow, my brother found this video a few days ago & we couldn't believe what we were seeing. We were one of the famlies that hosted an exchange student from this group! Our dad passed away 16 years ago & we were thrilled to see him at the back of his blue pick-up truck with white topper loading equipment in the truck. My brother & I even found ourselves-he was 5 & I was 10. Our mother knows Margie Cuthbertson & said she will tell her about this video next time she sees her. Thanks for the memories

I wondered whether those young people on the video would ever actually see this it; I'm glad that you were able to find it. There were quite a few people 'in shot' in that scene, and I guess there are others yet to see it. As I said in a previous comment, my wife and I visitied Margie Cuthbertson in 2009 (from the UK) - we were delighted to find that she still lived at the same address. She looked well, and we've tried to keep in touch - (she's not yet computer-savvy!)

My wife and I visited Margie last year, and I did try to send her some video footage of her, her husband Fran and their son Tim. Unfortunately, although my software (Premiere Pro CS5) says I can output in NTSC (as opposed to the European PAL), Margie was to unable to play the DVD I sent her. She *should* have my home address and work e-mail. I have a family website (if you google 'theboyes') where there are other details. It would be lovely to hear from her. I hope she's doing OK.
