Deer Murder, cold blood

Missouri, Cass County:
I am in my tree stand, my friend walks through the woods to push deer, about 100yards from my stand he stops and starts talking to the weeds, whistles for me to come over. I get there to find this very nice buck just watching us at about 15ft away. Thinking it is injured, we decide to euthanize him. Only to find out after gutting, he was fully intact, no injuries....just one large bullet hole to the neck...Murder I tell ya! To brave to run, hadn't even taken his morning poop.

'd be kind of scared to eat a deer that acted weird since i read that CWD causes a loss of fear behaviour.

was he wounded? or was he sick? he looked healthy but i've never seen a deer do that before
