  • Oh! And secondly to all those saying you cannot scruff a ferret. That's not true. Try clipping their nails without it. Not an easy task. It's perfectly normal. Mother ferrets do it to their babies... same with cats and all sorts of animals. The ferret wouldn't yawn if it hurt, it would flail and make screaming noises or it might even release it's scent glands.

  • @hshahrhah I'm sure I'm older than you "kiddo". Secondly, no it does not clog their air passages. It's how the mother (including cats) carries her kits around with her and puts them to sleep. If it clogged their air passages, they wouldn't even have the ability to take in the huge gulp of air required to yawn. Don't believe me? Choke yourself and try to yawn.

  • the thumbnail pic makes it seem like the ferret is biting the side of your face off. i am disappoint.

  • I've had ferrets my whole life. The ferret here is biting at his fingers because he wants to get down and play. Seriously, anyone saying that scruffing a ferret harms them obviously has no idea what they're talking about. Mothers scruff them to calm them and move them, and believe me, mating between ferrets is a lot more aggressive than this. My ferret goes totally limp when I scruff her, but she usually starts licking my face shortly after. It makes grooming and handling a lot easier.

  • Why does this video have so many dislikes? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! If you think this is a bad way to control your ferret then you don't deserve to have ferrets. This is exactly what you do when scruffing.

  • You definately have to scruff them when you trim their nails. They go into a passive stance when you it. At least 4 out of 6 of mine do. I have two that give you a hard time.

  • you are a d.

  • Yes I'm going to listen to that kid whose ferret is biting his hands off who also handles his ferret like a ball.

  • @CheetoPasta Oh okay, I was not aware of that, I myself have a ferret and i apologise for the rude language. If someone is misbehaving with animals my temper - as you can see - is VERY short. :o)

  • @zupertubbe when you hold a ferret by its scruff it calms them and makes them sleepy, a scruff is lose skin, and when you pick it up by its scruff it doesnt hurt them, if it did then it would try to bite and get away.

  • here's to all the people saying this hurts the ferret. its just like a cat, you can do this to them and IT DOESNT HURT THEM! it doesnt hurt them cuz this scruff is there so their moms can pick them up and move them. that skin is like a shirt pretty much. so stop saying it hurts them! get a ferret and you'll understand!

  • @katoudupuis Are they females? Girls are naturally a LOT smaller than males. Also if your ferrets were mill ferrets, the early neutering stunts their growth.
